What I Do

I’ve been an occupational therapist since 2000. Wow, that’s a long time. I have worked in a variety of settings over the years- community mental health, outpatient rehab, specialty clinics, acute rehab, inpatient psych, a national cancer center, acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and private practice… In all of these settings, one thing was central in my desires, to provide meaningful support during challenging times, and to do work that mattered. While I’ve always been able to forge deep connections with my clients, I found there was freedom, spaciousness, and a deep well of joy available when I stepped outside of mainstream healthcare and the medical, corporate machine and showed up in service. In private practice, I get to do things my way, on my terms, and it is a gift to come to work. I feel so grateful for that.

Occupational therapy is a fascinating profession that focuses on helping people participate in meaningful activities in the face of challenge. This provides a HUGE umbrella where us body/mind, creative folks can express our own unique gifts in service to helping people live their best lives.

So, my bag of tricks includes years of craniosacral therapy experience, a growing knowledge base of functional neurology, spiritual psychology, neural manipulation, lymphatic support, yoga therapy, energy healing, and life coaching.

I work with infants through the elderly for wellness focused, whole body/whole being work. During my day, I might be sitting quietly beside a deeply relaxed client on my table, guiding a brain injured client through neuro exercises, sitting and talking through a challenge with a client, racing a six-year-old in a crab crawl race, or bouncing a baby in my arms. Each hour is different, each session a new adventure.

Given my particular toolbox, I attract a lot of clients with nervous system challenges. Many of the modalities I use are well suited for calming, rebalancing, and healing a struggling brain. But I also see people to work through trauma, clear an old misunderstanding, navigate chronic illness, heal a recent injury, shift chronic pain, or just deal with the bumps and bruises and challenges of growing up human. No issue is too small, and every big issue has a window into healing. My hope is to help you find your windows when you need it.

Safe space

It is my intention to provide a safe and nurturing space for growth and healing. Black lives matter, unconditionally and always, and I seek to be a better anti-racist every day. Children are honored, respected and supported as our future change makers. I warmly welcome all members of the LGBTQ+ community. All who affirm love, equality, and responsibility are welcome here.

Insurance

I do see clients for good old “skilled occupational therapy” following motor vehicle accidents and occasionally for lymphedema consultations when current care isn’t working, and people are looking for another expert opinion. During these times, I am happy to report that I am capable of wearing the “SKILLED OT HAT”, and will see people with diagnoses and billing codes and objective measures in mind, and I’m happy to bill your auto insurance PIP at OT market rates. I do not do any direct billing to medical insurance, nor am I in network with any plans. If the work we do together fits under the scope of traditional occupational therapy needs, I am happy to give you a superbill receipt to submit to your private insurance for out-of-network OT reimbursement, if your plan allows for this. Please know that Medicare and Oregon Health Plan do not allow for skilled OT visits with out-of-network providers. I see clients with these plans for “wellness visits” only.

A phone call to your insurance company would go like this:

What is my coverage for out of network occupational therapy visits?
Do I need a doctor’s referral or pre-authorization?
If pre-authorization is required, can you fax the forms to Whole You, LLC at (971) 999-7002
Is there a fax number I can use for my superbills? If not, what address should be used?
Is there an additional form to be submitted with my superbills?

Superbill receipts will be emailed to clients. When submitting, please be sure to specify that you want direct reimbursement versus money being sent to Whole You, LLC.
